Clone DVD is a great DVD copying product that has a powerful set of features including a built-in CSS decryptor. It can copy your original DVD movies (as well as the menus and other extra footage) to a blank disc. About the only features it lacked compared to our top choice is that it was incapable of copying to CDs. In addition, it cannot compress a DVD-9 disc into a DVD-5 disc.

Several key features that Clone DVD offers drew our attention. The ability to remove the CSS encryption, make a DVD from VOB files on your hard drive, and the ability to copy all the menus, subtitles, bonus features, etc. to two discs, or just copy the main movie to a single disc. This makes up for the fact that it cannot compress DVDs.

One reason that this product did not rank as highly as some of the others we reviewed, is it doesn't have the ability to compress a larger DVD-9 to fit on a blank DVD disc. Instead, you need to split up the movie onto two DVD discs.

While the Clone DVD program does not come with any additional software bundled with it like many other products do, they don't have to. Their product speaks for itself with its powerful ripping capabilities. Many of the other "lesser" products will try to entice you into buying their product by including alot of worthless programs to make it seem like you're getting more.

Summary:

This program can be summarized with two words... "raw power." The capabilities of this software to rip a DVD movie and allow you to make copies (near DVD quality) is unprecidented and highly recommended despite its rather large price tag of $99.95. It is the most expensive software package we reviewed, but if you are serious about ripping DVDs, this is the software for you.
